Deadline.com has reported that Nick Zano has been cast for season 2 of LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. He will be playing Dr. Nate Heywood, who in the comics becomes Citizen Steel, a former member of the Justice League of America.
The character’s grandfather was Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America, which was introduced in the Legends of Tomorrow season finale.
In the comics, Nate is a former college football star who shattered his knee and then became addicted to painkillers. Later, he was turned into a being made of “living steel” and was referred to as Citizen Steel.
Legends of Tomorrow lost several cast members throughout it’s first season. Most notably, Ciara Renee who plays Hawkgirl and Wentworth Miller who plays Captain Cold, but in Miller’s case he will remain in the mix as a recurring player throughout The CW’s DC comics lineup of shows.
In Season 2, “the composition of the team is going to change; there will be some new faces on the Waverider,” Legends co-creator/executive producer Marc Guggenheim said last month. “The season finale planted some very significant flags in terms of what the new concept of the show will be in season 2. The team’s mission statement for Season 2 is more compelling than Season 1, and at the same time, it is more streamlined. It’s a little bit higher concept, a very clean notion that will allow the show to do things that it does best.”
Actor Zano, has a lengthy resume of TV roles including most recently Fox’s Minority Report reboot, The CW’s Melrose Place and 90210 reboots and Cougartown.
Legends of Tomorrow returns to The CW this fall.
